Father's Day Gift - Mason Jars Snack Pack

Father's Day is just around the corner. I love "punny" sayings. I liked the 'uh-mason' one so I needed to come up with some creative way of giving the jars.  I made the jar carriers out of a cardboard box.

You can make a two pack or four pack carrier. Then print out the tag below, adhere it to the carrier and you are good to go! I printed the tag out on cream card stock and grunged it up with Tim Holtz walnut ink.

Father's Day Subway Art Card

Hello! I have happy to be kind of organized this year and be able to post the Father's Day cards I made before it is even June. That is an achievement for me!

I do not have any special program on my computer. I made this on the slideshow for Mac program called Keynote. It easily converts into a pdf or jpeg file and it is easy to manipulate the words and pictures around.  My computer is new so I am having fun downloading a whole bunch of new fonts as well.  I printed the image on cream card stock, inked the page to give a grunge look with Tim Holtz walnut distress ink, and adhered it to a kraft card that I had inked the edges on. I printed out an extra "u" and globe and adhered those over top the others for more dimension to the card. I also glued buttons on two of the stars.

Happy "Pop's" Day - Father's Day Gift Idea

Hello! Welcome to my blog! 

I never got around to posting last years Father's Day gifts I made. I basically made a few goodies with the same tag with the theme of "Pop". I am always looking for something creative to make and once I make it I hope to help someone else out. The tag is free to use for personal use. Click on image and save or copy to your favourite program. Paste and resize as desired. I printed mine out on kraft card stock as that is a versatile paper and always looks great!

The first gift I put in a lunch bag that I cut down. I stuffed the bag with a few goodies, tied raffia around the bag and glued the tag on. 

The second gift I made like a candy bouquet. I wrapped a super large tuna can with wrapping paper. I added all sorts of things with a pop theme - soda pop, popcorn, and cake pops. Actually they were brownie bites that I put on a stick. I printed out moustaches and glued them to the wrapper. I added candies to the can too so it was filled. 

The next gift was a goodie bag that I gave to my brother. I cut a hole in a lunch bag and put popcorn in a plastic bag, then in the lunch bag. An easy goodie bag.

Dad, You Are Wheelie Great - Father's Day Gift

 I seen a card somewhere on Pinterest with this saying - "Dad - You are Wheelie Great!" The saying is perfect for my husband for Father's Day. I was originally going to make this a candy bouquet, but it turned out to be more like a big 3D card with candy and sweets in it.

Here is what I did:

1. I started with a base from a waxed paper box. I cut off the top and wrapped it in kraft paper.
2. I cut out green card stock (different tones) and glued a short one on the front of the box and a taller one to the inside back of the box.
2. I loaded the base with packaged M&M's and peanuts, and then I dumped chocolate covered almonds on top to give a rocky road effect.
3. I glued card stock bike rider images (FIND IMAGE HERE) to the grass scenery that I previously glued wrapped Oreo cookies to. I printed out extra images to glue the tire area of the image to the front of the cookie to cover them.
4. I glued paper grass cut outs here and there to the green areas.
5. I glued two pieces of cardboard (that was about 1/4 inch depth) to the back of the tall greenery to give the display some depth. Then I glued a scenery background that I printed off my computer. Find image HERE.

I printed out the saying I made - and ended up cutting it to make it fit.

My daughter is going to make a movie to go with this gift from clips off her dad's GoPro from rides he has recorded. It will make for a wheelie great gift!!

New Dad Special Operations Kit

Welcome to my blog! I have been busy, busy with Father's Day preparations. This gift pack is geared towards new dad's with the goal of prepping them in a fun way for their future important mission of being an awesome dad.

Here is what I put in the kit:

There were four envelopes. Each one of them contained items that corresponded to a special mission.

Mission #1 Operation James Bond Time

This envelope contained items to help with daddy/baby time. I purchased a book called "We Belong Together" by Joyce Wan (this book is adorable - great art and textured) and a toy.

Mission #2 Operation Stealth Mode

This envelope contained items that may encourage sleep. I purchased soothers, a receiving blanket and an eye cover. 

 Mission #3 Diffuse the Bomb

This envelope contained items to help daddy with diaper changing duty - wipes, diapers, and a garbage bag with a warning label "Danger Hazardous Waste"

 Mission #4 Flaming Fire

This envelope contained a match book I made with tips on Mommy and Daddy relations.

I put the envelopes in a box I covered with kraft paper (it was a square pop box cut in half)

and I glued the special mission letter to it:

Father's Day Plant Pick

Hello! Welcome to Creative "Try"als!

Last year for a gift for "the Dad's" at my church, we gave cookies along with this - 

a bean plant with a quote on a paint stick. This craft is extremely easy if you have a wood burning kit.

I bought one from Michael's a couple years ago and it has been a very handy tool. The tool comes with different points and I used the transfer point to transfer the image.

I typed up the words, reversed them,  printed them and then got a laser copy - the ink jet copy does not work - I tried :(

Here is the image below if you would like to try it....

Right click, copy, paste in your favorite publishing program, resize as desired, print and then laser print at a photocopy place if you don't own have a laser printer.

The bean was planted in a little espresso cup (it took about two weeks to get a decent size) and we wrapped the cup and part of the plant with cellophane.

Truckloads of Love - Card for Dad

Masculine cards are a hard one for me to wrap my brain around - so when I saw this card (CLICK HERE) - I had to make it. I couldn't find a direct link to this card on the blog - but I went to "Created by JB" - there are oodles of beautiful cards on there - so well worth your time in checking this blog out. 

I cut out the labels, trucks and heart on my Cricut. The labels were from "preserves", the truck from "New Arrival" and the heart from Jubilee Celebrations.

Best Pop Ever - Father's Day Gift Wrap Idea

I saw this pop bottle gift idea in a recycling book a few months ago, and I knew I had to make this for my hubby! This is an emptied 2 liter pop bottle, filled with goodies. It all came together when I found the most awesome label on the

Oopsey Daisy blog. 

She covered a pop can with this fabulous label she made.  I printed out the largest one I could print on my printer - and had to print out another one to fill in the gaps as it didn't quite fit around the bottle - but the width was the perfect size. 

Check this label out - it is so clever!

So here is how to make this pop bottle into a gift bottle... 

1. Clean an empty 2 liter bottle.

2. Take an exacto knife and make a slit in the plastic - the width of the label.

3. Fill the bottle with goodies. The goodies need to be sort of flat to successfully get in the bottle without any injuries - I filled it with socks, gum, licorice, peanuts, and a gift card. 

4. Glue or tape on your label.

5. To make the label shiny and look like it is all one piece - cover it with clear shelving paper. 

And there you have it - a unique low calorie Father's Day gift!

Shirt and Tie Goodie Bag For Dad

Every year at church, the women provide a little something for the men on Father's Day. I saw all the cute little shirt and tie bags made out of lunch bags on blogs- but I didn't want the goodie bags to be that big. I also wanted a white shirt - so I came up with the white little sandwich bag idea.

I bought these bags at a wholesale store - they came in a case of 1000. Let's just say I am stocked for life - but there are so many crafts one can make with these little beauties. For the ties, I cut out a tie shape to fit the bag, and found some scrapbook paper that had neat patterns. This is a good way to use up  outdated paper, or paper from slabs that you had no idea what to do with it. These goodie bags are simple and perfect for mass production. We made 80 of these. Here is how you do it....

1. Start with a paper sandwich bag. 

2. Fold the top over (approximately 2 inches - depending on what you put in the bag).

3. Cut out the collar. 

4. Staple on a tie. We used two staples to hold each collar down. 

These bags are so adorable - I can't wait to give them out on Father's Day.

ForeFathers Specimen Art

I have wanted to somehow have pictures of all the Father's in my family displayed around Father's Day, and I finally figured out how - specimen art. I am fortunate to have quite a few pictures of the Dad's in my family and so this was perfect. I found a graphic called

 Cabinet Card frame, from Graphics Fairy.

I gathered all my pics and got to work sizing them on my computer and adjusting the sizes to fit the different frames I had. With a couple family lines I had three generations of men so I put them in the same frame with a surname tag.

I love these pictures. My grandfather is on the bottom, his father above him and his grandfather diagonal to him. With the surname tag I found some leaf clip art to give it a family tree theme. 

This is my grandmothers family. Her dad is in the top left corner, his dad beneath him and his dad beside. I did type their names on the picture - but you can't see it very good in these pictures as they are a small font. 

My hubbies family does not have many pictures. I put my father in law in the frame, but the two other men are my hubbies mom's family - so for the label I put "Ken's Family". I had a linen board from a frame that I used on the Italian Roots art specimen - but I didn't have more - so I downloaded a
linen digital paper from Graphics Fairy 
for my other art pieces. 

The same goes for my dad's family, I only had a picture of my dad and his - but I had a picture of my grandmother's father. The common theme here is Italian roots - so that was the title I gave this piece. 

I love family history. When I do things like this I feel a closer connection to those who have passed on. Father's Day is a great reason to get those old pictures out and celebrate all the father's in your family.
