Winnie the Pooh Diaper Cake Tutorial

Hello! Welcome to my blog! I was looking back in my project pictures and found this diaper cake I made four years ago before our first grandchild was born. Another grandchild will be born soon - so my mind has been on baby creations again.
Here is how to make a diaper cake:

I decided to make a Winnie the Pooh themed diaper cake because I just love this Winnie the Pooh quote:
"The smallish things take up the
most room in your heart."
I made this rosette to put on top of the diaper cake.

Mom Themed Explosion Box

I made some exploding boxes at Christmas (yet to be posted) and I have to admit, I am addicted. These are so much fun! Even putting simple things in them make them look impressive.

To make the box all you need is a 12x12 sheet of card stock. Score  at 4" and 8". Turn the paper, and score again at 4"and 8". Cut out the four corners and there you have the box part.
The lid is from 6"x6" card stock and scored at 7/8" all sides. Cover the cardboard as desired.

.
This gift was for a baby shower. I am all about talking up the importance of a mother and this gift was part of that promoting. In the centre I pasted a small doily, and a small teddy bear that held a frame of a silhouette picture of a mom with her baby. I bought the mini frame, the flowers and the doilies from Michael's. I found the clip art online.

Each side has a decoration. All silhouettes I found online. I searched, Mother silhouette and a good selection came up. I cut each one out as best I could. I adhered the silhouettes with pop dots.

On one of the sides I added a pocket. I put some "mother" quotes inside the pocket.
All the quotes can be downloaded HERE with my free PDF for personal use.

The top of the box I decorated with lace, a circle punched pattern paper, lace tied in a knot and a flower glued over the knot and the banner quote.

I went to three showers this past month, and the mom's absolutely loved these. I have two more to make for upcoming showers.

Tin Transformation

Hello! Welcome to my blog!

I was looking for a center object for a diaper cake. On tutorials that I read, a lot of people used a roll of paper towel. I wanted to try something different. In my stash I had a tin container that was waiting for a project such as this. My diaper cake had a Winnie the Pooh theme, so I wanted to make this a Winnie the Pooh tin.

I mod podged some drop cloth on the lid and around the perimeter of the tin. I added ribbon to cover the edges. Then I got my daughter to paint Pooh on the tin and a butterfly on the lid. I added a drawer pull to the lid

This is the start of the diaper cake. I will post it soon.

Busy Mom Survival Kit - Baby Shower Gift Idea

Happy Friday! Welcome to my blog!! Here is my latest baby shower gift basket. The stuff in the basket is geared more towards the mom, although the advice on the tags will definitely help the baby.  I suggest this package not be gifted to a new mom who needs baby stuff. Here is what I put in the kit:

1. WATER - Saying: Water cannot be drawn from an empty well.
2. JAM - Saying - Don't jam every minute with busy-ness.
3. ROSE AIR FRESHENER - Saying - Learn to smell the roses.

4. CHEERIOS - Saying: Be of good cheerios
5. KNEE PADS - Saying: When life is too hard to stand - kneel.
6. GLASSES - Saying: Focus on your children.

7. SNICKERS - Saying: Learn to laugh.
8. MENTOS - Saying: The joy of motherhood comes in momints.

Here are the tags I used below. I made both a male and female package so there are blue and pink tags. I added an elephant and cut out some clouds to put on the tags.

I put all of the items with their corresponding tags in my favorite bag to make - A BOX BAG -
tied it up with a ribbon and attached the survival kit tag. This is a different but meaningful gift to give those busy moms!
