 Canada Day is coming soon. I made a couple printable quotes. The quotes are my favorite words from the National Anthem.

Happy Canada Day! Wooden Canadian Flag

Happy Canada Day! I decided that a piece of wood that I had been using on my mantel was the perfect shape for a flag so I painted it - front and back. On one side I painted the Canadian Flag, the other side I painted the American Flag. I used red brick and antique white for the paints. After painting I distressed the wood with an electric sander. I printed the maple leaf from the internet and cut it out for a stencil HERE IS THE LINK.

Print Your Own Drop Cloth Flags

I could have gone to the store and bough some flags - but that is not my style. I decided to print my own on my favorite material - drop cloth.

Here is what I did....

1. Get an image of the desired flag. Here are links to the ones I used

AMERICAN FLAG

Copy and pasted images on to your favorite computer program, and resize to desired size. Check out my tutorial HERE on how to print on fabric.

2. Cut out the flags, leaving a border around the flag if you would like frayed edges. Fray the fabric by pulling out several of the threads in the fabric.

3. Fold over the edge of the flag around a wooden skewer. Hot glue into place. 

For a second flag or if you want a double sided flag - flip the image if you are making an American flag or other flags that would need the image flipped. The Canadian flag worked both ways.

My flags are adorning the wreath on my door.

After Canada day (July 1) I will change my Canadian flags to get ready for July 4th.

Canada Day Fabric Yo-Yo Doily

I am on a quest to streamline my fabric scraps into three boxes, and this little Canada Day decorating project helped get rid of some in style. Do you have some fabric scraps you need to diminish? How about making fabric yo-yo doilies? I am thinking I might make one for a bunch of different occasions.

1. I made 16 yo yo's starting with 6"diameter circles. 

2. Line up the yo-yo's how you want them to be placed. Sew them in groups of four, then sew the groups of four together. I sewed about a 3/4" long stitch when sewing them together. 

Wouldn't this be really cool with the American Flag colors? I am picturing stars and stripes here.

Put a favorite centerpiece on it and you have a sweet patriotic centerpiece.
